IM-IL202 Transform the Datacenter Immersion Part 2 of 4: Infrastructure Management

  • Track(s): Infrastructure Monitoring & Management
  • Session Type: Instructor-led Lab
  • Product(s): App Controller, Orchestrator, Virtual Machine Manager, Windows Azure

Management of the infrastructure layer of a datacenter has become very complex with the introduction of heterogeneous environments and clouds that sit on and off premises. Datacenter Administrators are tasked with ensuring that they have a firm handle on ensuring that all resources are managed efficiently, and that business units have the flexibility to delivery on their commitments. Windows Server 2012, System Center 2012 SP1, Windows Azure and SQL Server 2012 offer a new way to gain operational efficiencies and reduce costs through self-service and automation regardless of resources being on or off premises. In this lab, you will get hands on with a pre-configured environment that takes you on a tour of key scenarios that reveal how Microsoft offers a consistent management experience across on premises, service provider and public cloud environments. Scenarios included: App Controller and Self-Service, Automated resource allocation, Virtual Machine Manager and dynamic resource allocation, Virtual Machine Manager and network multi-tenancy, Windows Azure Networking, and the Orchestrator and Runbook Designer.

  • Track(s): Application Management
  • Session Type: Instructor-led Lab
  • Product(s): App Controller, Operations Manager

While System Center continues to be a market leader for infrastructure monitoring, it has now deepened its ability to monitor applications both internally and ""outside-in”. With dynamic reporting and monitoring of the application, your organization is now able to improve root-cause analysis processes while reducing the mean time to service restoration. In this lab, you will get hands on with a pre-configured environment that takes you on a tour of key scenarios that reveal how Microsoft supports you in leveraging public cloud infrastructure such as Windows Azure to deploy tiers of applications, which are fully integrated into the management fabric. Scenarios included: Operations Manager (Global Service Monitoring) 360 degree application monitoring, Operations Manager (Application Performance Monitoring) accurately triage application problems by monitoring Front End web applications, mid-tier web service and databases, Operations Manager and Dev/Ops remediation process, App Controller and simplified deployment of a package, Windows Azure and database replication,

IM-IL204 Transform the Datacenter Immersion Part 4 of 4: Insight and Availability

  • Track(s): Infrastructure Monitoring & Management
  • Session Type: Instructor-led Lab
  • Product(s): Data Protection Manager, Operations Manager

It’s imperative that IT knows how datacenter resources are being consumed. Having a left to right view of current utilization provides a deep understanding on how the business functions, and allows IT to plan for demand while maintaining optimum performance and minimizing costs. Providing data insights through robust reporting on usage, costs and resources is a great way to drive high quality service management and ensure a deep understanding of the consumers’ behavior and requirements. Microsoft now allows IT to perform as a service provider delivering cloud services to varying business units upon request and provide intelligent dashboards to help leadership teams make better decisions about how to scale datacenter capacity. In this lab, you will get hands on with a pre-configured environment that takes you on a tour of key scenarios that reveal how Microsoft supports you in creating a consistent management experience whether resources span from on premises, to Windows Azure or to a Service Provider. Scenarios included: Operations Manager and uncovering system dependencies with distributed applications, Building reports with Operations Manager, Chargeback Reporting, Data Protection Manager and backup status monitoring, and Enhancements to Failover Clustering,
